How to Ceilidh

Choose from an array of dynamic Art and DT workshops designed to get your creative juices flowing. You can choose to do two workshops in total and each workshop lasts two hours Date: Monday 19 June Time: 8:45am - 10:45am and 11:00am - 1:00pm

The Bridge

Design and build the strongest, longest and most elegant bridge and failure test it with weights.

Grab your kilt and your partner, a ceilidh is reeling its way to Ibstock! You will need to practice your dosey-does and barn dances for this activity. This two-hour tutorial will have you spinning around and learning traditional Scottish country dancing. All you need is enthusiasm and the ability to count to 8! So, put on your dancing shoes and “gie it laldy!”

Unleash your creative potential and discover the wonder of lino-printing! Learn how to use crafting tools to carefully cut your creations, and experiment with a range of inks to produce striking designs that will look professional enough to be framed! With a plethora of designs to choose from, there will be something for everyone, no matter your experience level.

An exciting and creative activity where you'll design your own rollercoasters for marbles and test them out.

Have you ever aspired to be the new Banksy? Do you like the idea of exploring a different, contemporary artistic medium? Mr Harrison is running a spray paint workshop where you can try stencilling and blending with spray paint, working together to make a group Ibstock mural.

Rediscover a younger you by coming to Mrs Gregory’s textiles animation workshop in the Prep Art Studio… Looking at local ‘flora and fauna’, you will create woven, mixed-media bugs, florals, and their environments. Then using your creations and iPads you will then create a mini stop-motion animation to bring your artwork to life!

Marvel at the magic of marbling and produce your own marvellous marbled creations! In addition to learning the art of using specialist inks, you’ll get to turn your unique designs into hand-made crafts. With a selection of craft projects to choose from, such as card making and origami, you’ll be able to produce a range of stunning paper-based projects.

Relax with a soothing pebble-painting session – from neon mandalas to pearlescent galaxies, there is a style for everyone! Mandalas have been used as meditation aids for centuries, and ‘The Kindness Rocks Project’ spreads sunshine by leaving painted pebbles for people to enjoy. Join us in this vibrant and chilled activity and decorate some beautiful stones to brighten your (or someone else’s) day!
