SPREADING THE LOVE WITH FLOWER POWER We all know that February is the month of love and this year we have been in need of more love than ever! In the run up to Valentine’s Day, pupils in Senior 7 worked on a secret project to show their affection and appreciation for their loved ones through a simple gesture: flower! They used a collage technique to produce some most enchanting cards and we commend them for their efforts. Mrs Ilaria Harris, Teacher of Art

CRAFT CLUB In Craft Club, Senior 7 and 8 pupils have been making Jesmonite Coasters. Made from scratch, the pupils designed their coaster shapes and mixed up unique colour palettes before diving into the making process. The shapes were cut out using the Laser Cutter in the Innovation Centre and a mould of each shape was made on the Vac-Form in the DT Workshop. The pupils used Jesmonite, a type of ‘eco-resin’, to create their coloured flecks, before mixing into their base colour and casting in the coaster mould. Once set, the coasters were released from the mould, sanded down to reveal the ‘terrazzo design’ and sealed with beeswax. Thank you to all the pupils who took part in this project. I look forward to more crafty fun in the months ahead! Miss Chloe Hemming, Art Technician
