ARTISTS’ EXHIBITIONS ON DISPLAY Many congratulations to our departing UVI Artists: Veronica Boyle, Lexi Crisp and Miryoung Shin whose work was proudly exhibited in the Sports Hall foyer at the conclusion of their course.

Although it was a smaller show than we usually put on, the quality of the work was no lesser for that. During the pandemic and through periods of lockdown, the three pupils created their artworks in sometimes less than ideal conditions, including from the confines of their self-isolated bedrooms-turned-studios, as they explored different themes and media. Nevertheless, they still managed to produce outstanding outcomes. At the same time, a display of GCSE work from PVI pupils was mounted in the corridor by the Ballroom adjacent to First Porch. While, again, this was smaller than our usual exhibition, it certainly highlighted the strengths of the artwork from the cohort. Well done to all the pupils for their hard work during a difficult year and we wish them all the best going forward. Miss Chloe Hemming, School of Art

SCREEN PRINTING Following the arrival of the School of Art’s new screen-printing equipment, our LVIs got even more creative with their pattern designs. To begin with, they were inspired by different starting points such as crustaceans and fungi. They then developed a pattern to transfer to lino. These black and white images were next repeated on Photoshop and exposed onto screen printing. The pupils continued

experimenting with their screen-printing designs to create a range of wallpapers. They were all inspired by Timorous Beasties graffiti furniture and went on to transfer their own designs onto fabric to make their own chair. Mrs Ilaria Harris, Teacher of Art
